Ibelin jumps at being addressed so suddenly, and looks at Mathieu with wide, unsure eyes. "Y-yes," he stutters. "Just... Just tired."

He drops his gaze, not wanting to look at the other boy.

The lie in Ibelin's words makes his stomach uneasy, but Ginger is already returning with the bowl of stew; this is not the time. "Alright," he says. "You should sit down for a bit."

(We're being so cruel to him. XD. But they'll solve this.)

Ibelin glances at where Mathieu's sister sits down, feeling the sudden urge to flee, but after a moment, takes a seat next to them.

"So why aren't you at your Master's?" Ginger asks. "What happened?"

"It's...It's a long story," he admits, and considers how to best tell it. He mulls it over for a few bites of stew. "He must have suspected that I am Fey-blooded, and he tested it by poisoning me with silver. I became sick, so he forced me to leave. But that was quite a while ago, and..."

As he tells the story, Mathieu realises just how much he has missed talking to his sister, and how much has happened to him since they last saw one another. He almost forgets to eat, he is so occupied with the conversation.

Ibelin watches with growing envy as Mathieu and his sister converse, obviously lost in each other. He remembers, vaguely, a time when he could talk with his own family like that, but it was so long ago now it feels like nothing more than a fleeting impression.

Eventually, he grows tired of sitting, and gets up to stretch his legs.

Once he's outside, however, he finds that he doesn't want to return. He hates the isolated feeling he gets here, like he doesn't belong, like he'll never be a part of what Mathieu has.

With heavy steps and an ill stomach, he heads back for the inn.
