good question.

Sometimes I know what's right on lay/lie and sit/set and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I know what sounds right, but not why.

I *think* I'd lie on the bed, but lay down. But my FIL is from a Nebraska farm, and is all the time screwing up sit/set, so it's possible the incorrect one is rubbing off.

I know everyone says "wax paper", just as they say "whip cream".

Eh? They do? Why? Make them stop - on both counts.

LOL!

I've tried, sister! I've tried!

... maybe instead of "everyone", I should say
the vast unwashed
the common horde
mouth breathers

ok now I'm making myself giggle

me too! I purchase whipping cream too!

we started using waxed paper in the microwave in the last few years. Multiple people told me bad things (none of which I can cite right now) about plastic wrap in the microwave.

You are the reason that, when people say I should become an editor, I say, "No, I really shouldn't". I would never have noticed that.

ahhh ... but there's a difference between editing and proofing. I think you are better at the former and I the latter.

just saying.

Hehe - you need to move to England. It's called waxed paper here. And whipped cream. And soured cream. That reminds me - I need to buy some waxed paper. I will have to check just in case it's changed its name! :-)

oh funny -- that makes perfect sense! But we're like you on roast beef, and, unfortunately, *sour* cream. Now that's gonna make me nuts!
