Everything in the IC exists to fulfill Paolini's power fantasy. Pao's weak and nerdy in real life, but through Eragon, he gets to be strong and powerful. To him, power is "getting over it" immediately. Just look at Arya. Because Paolini loves Eragon, as he is Eragon, he just took it as a given that the audience would be on his side no matter what he did. But to really put his baby over the top, he has to make Eragon and Roran as badass as can be! That was his mistake. He saw Eragon and Roran as pro-badasses from the start. See a badass doesn't throw up or have traumatic reactions to war. Or so he thought. Having Eragon learn things super fast only makes him come across super talented! But through all this, he left the audience behind ( ... )
