Questions we could ask Paolini that he would actually answer

So over the years antishirts have tried to point out the inconsistencies and basically poor writing in Inheritance, but he (or someone on his staff) have basically always silenced or ignored them. But I'm pretty sure if we phrase our critques in such a way, we actually could ask him legitimate questions and get legitimate answers in the next faq. ( Read more... )

That was really more of a challenge than a question, though. What else was he going to do but ignore it? Fall on his knees blubbering and beg forgiveness?

Just really, did you expect him to act at all differently from how he did?

Here's one :
When Eragon and Arya met the spirits, the spirits were pleased that Eragon had killed a Shade and thereby freed the imprisoned spirits. The scene shows that spirits don't like being imprisoned inside Shades. Then why do Shades fight extra hard for their survival instead of trying to kill themselves?

Not sure at all if this is ever responded, but do the colors of the dragons come at random or there's something more?

How about these:
Why was Eragon so insistent on getting a new sword? Couldn't he have used one from the Varden's armory, or used Brom's Sword?

Why did you choose to heal Eragon's scar after his fight with Durza? Was there some symbolism in him being healed?

That's all I've got for now.

He wanted a sword that couldn’t be broken and didn’t have to be sharpened. All other swords would have been ruined fighting murtagh and za’arock

This may seem kind of strange, but I want to ask Paolini if he thinks any of his characters are gay. And if Alagaesian law permits same-sex marriage.

He’s fine with detailed descriptions of groins, violence and gore, and a religion that literally prays to monsters who eat people.

But, yeah, okay, there are people who still say even mentioning homosexuality is worse.
