Ooo...another golden age of figure skating?

I highly approve of the Yu-na Kim/Mao Asada/Joannie Rochette medal ceremony. I haven't cared about this many figure skaters since 1998-2000, when I think figure skating took a hit for star skaters for some reason. Makes me excited for the upcoming years. =D

Yeah, I observed and was wondering that as well! I had to check that, but at least on the plus side they do use all caps for the surnames. Maybe it has something to do with Japanese and Chinese being somehow "less foreign" than Koreans in mainstream American culture? Both China and Japan seem to have had comparatively longer intertwined history with America (such as the Chinese helping build the transcontinental railroad and Opium Wars and Commodore Perry's "opening" of Japan) than with Korea. I mean, yeah, there was the Korean War and all, but that seems to have been the first major involvement with America compared to America's involvements with the other two.

Regardless I'm still confused as to the lack of consistency myself as well.

Well, they did put the Chinese surnames first too, but in previous years they kept flip-flopping to the point where I was confused as to which one was which. Lu Chen come to mind.

To my untrained eye I think Mirai skated better than Joannie :P But that's mostly because I noticed Joannie stumbled a couple times and Mirai didn't. And OH MY GOD... sex bomb... I had not seen that until now. I can't believe he did that *_* That will teach me to follow your links ;)

Hahaha! =)

...I did notice that Joannie stumbled a bit and I do have to admit I hoped she won the gold for sentimental reasons. I should watch the programs again because maybe Joannie had some more difficult elements. But regardless, I do agree: I think Mirai should have scored higher on her long program. You could still give her a high score and not have her pass Joannie's short program lead.

Still, I'm looking forward to seeing Mirai in the future, so maybe it's ok that she didn't win a medal. Aside from Michelle Kwan, I can't think of any female skaters who win any Olympic medal returning for the next olympics.

I haven't been following the Olympics as closely as I might have liked. I know, for shame!

...I did just watch the "sex bomb" skate that Plushenko did. I watched it twice. I nearly passed out from laughing both times!
