That Russian link is pretty neat. I just used it to track down some songs from German bands for someone who asked about German music. Many thanks!

It's quite the little marvel, isn't it? And certainly saves all that...faffing around with "index of /" nonsense.

Yes indeed, especially since, as you mention, the "index of" search got more and more exploited by other websites/scams. Which, to a degree, was itself interesting to watch.
Since the Russian site offers the full link it's also still possible to stumble upon open directories. Very nice!

In the case of MP3s, you're also offered a range of different sampling bitrates, track lengths, remixes, etc. - all that file data being clearly visible from the outset.

I'm just wondering how long it'll last... ;o)
