...the Internet's worst-kept secret for free music not involving P2P networking.
An oblique reference made last week (point 2, here:
http://community.livejournal.com/anti_gravitas/240592.html) becomes a full-on Gaffney:
Tonight's Gadget Show (
http://gadgetshow.five.tv/) was all about direct comparisons, but whilst the Facebook vs. Twitter challenge was a sadly predictable highlighting of the trendy over the practical (that would be e-mail, folks...still the preferred method of keeping in touch for adults), the iTunes vs. Spotify showdown deliberately avoided the no-cost contender. Probably because its legal status is dubious at best.
Some years ago, before the evil empire sought to dominate more than just the search engine market, I posted a little masterclass on how to hack Google in order to quickly and efficiently locate what you were after, using MP3 files as an example. It didn't take long, however, for that method to be compromised and exploited to death by canny and unscrupulous website coders. Tut. I can't recommend it any more - not just because it's all a bit dodgy and Google is sh*t, but because there's something better around now. A few of you will be aware of it via correspondence, and some of you will have found it by yourselves. I daresay that even Jason Bradbury of the Gadget Show knows about it...just don't expect him to promote it on television. ;o)
