Stitch #82.

I had, of course, absolutely no intention of making an appearance at that ball. However, it occurred to me that as Doumeki-san began to improve, it would be something nice, so entirely for his sake, I attended. It also gave me a very good excuse to bow out as early as I liked.

I did not strive to be recognized, but this was my mask ( Read more... )

Uh, why would we need those, exactly?

As one of the people who have actually been here longer than I, Lyra-san, I would expect you to know.

Well, yeah, but... I'm not sure that'll always work. Most of the time, different worlds have different laws... And beyond the police force mostly deals with basic stuff like "Don't kill people". And we've got a court system, to... I think we already have it, sort of. It's just unofficial.

Then why not make it official? As to the differences in laws between worlds, we would vote, of course.

One has to strive to be recognized... ?

If one so chooses.

And, of course, it is necessary at certain times.

When they are broken in tiny fragments~ ♥

How insightful.

Well, at least you then agree that we ought to have them.

Tempting as breaking rules could be.

They are better gone!

My opinion is that it's useless. People are going to break them anyway. Save yourself the time and trouble.

How charmingly defeatist.

Wrong word.

Try realistic.

Because one ought to always give up and hope for the best in anarchy?

It's realistic that we'll all die. Should we all save ourselves the trouble and jump in front of oncoming trains?

Laws is a nice thought, but who could say which laws are the right ones? Some might be banned in some worlds but normal things in others.

That, and the influx of curses and people leaving is what makes creating law difficult. Not to mention the deities and their opinions.

The police force does a remarkable job without it, only by acting from one moral law - to not harm others.

As to the former, that is why we would vote on them before they became a reality.

I'm aware of all that, of course. Why should anyone care about civility in a place where they have no interest in remaining?

Which can be broadly defined, of course.

floating_bamboo November 5 2008, 07:30:22 UTC
That is wise, though it would need a lot of voting.

Now, now. I'm sure most of us do care. I'm simply stating the problems.

Of course.

You tone suggests I was in some way riled up. Try not to be so condescending Shinigami; I was only agreeing with your statement.
