I’m leaving tomorrow. Words trickle from his lips like rainwater.
Wouldn’t be the first time, she sneers.
I’m not coming back. Jaw twitches, cleans glasses. Not this time.
She smiles. He’s been singing the same old song for years. Wanna bet?
Kate awakes with the sun. And he’s still there.
