Washington Public Charter School for Technical Arts. Now he's onstage at the Washington Convention Center, preparing to address 14,000 attendees at the Society for ( Read more... )

wicked cool......It is odd to me that the idea of mediation being a faith issue as opposed to a science issue is even being debated?!?!?

regadless of the reporters choice on what to focus on in his article- i am thrilled to hear more about buddhist and science...if he and opposing scientists had done their research they would know that the Dalai Lama assigned 50 monks, 15 or more yrs ago to scientific learning. They have a school and are tutored by the greatest minds of our time ---in addition to allowing monks to be studied- as in the case related in the article.

Wow, very interesting. Sounds like he didn't give a very good speech though, mostly legitimizing the opposition's claims...

I'm sure he was a Buddhist the whole way thru

I enjoyed my experience here:

he was sweet, funny, humble, saying " i may not be able to answer your question, but i can respond". Very humble for a man who has spent years being tutored by some of the greatest scientists while in charge of a scientific reasearch school for Buddhists monks...

I found his ability to answer the whole question, in other words, expand beyond what appeared to be the question, and delve right to the heart of what the questioner was saying...remarkable

One part I found very... ironic, was the one person saying religion shouldn't breach science. It would be one thing if Buddhists were trying to limit research, but they're trying to help. They want to help rid the world of suffering. If people really want religion to not breach science, then they need to start speaking up about the Christrian conservitive right trying to limit the research we can do in the US.
I see little ultera(sp?) motive from the Buddhists.
