first link under your "related stories":But why men should prefer smaller women is unclear, says Daniel Nettle of the Open University, who led the research. "There is no evidence that shorter women conceive more quickly or are more fertile in a contemporary population," he says. In fact, previous studies have found that smaller women are more likely to die in childbirth.

Yeah, I saw that. The article I'm thinking of was fairly recent tho. I just don't remember where i saw it.

"In fact, previous studies have found that smaller women are more likely to die in childbirth."

That's quite unlikely in places with good medical care tho.

That's interesting...I'd be interested to know when these tall women's height increases happened. If they were adolescent, there's a good chance these females were significantly taller than their male counterparts as girls tend to go through puberty a year or so before boys do. Year 12 is a time when sexual interaction may be heavily tendered by height equity (how many 12 year olds do you know who are insecure in their manhood?), causing boys to eliminate girls who are significantly taller from their pool of interest/sexual reciprocation. So, what do these gangly girls do within their space of (temporary?) marginalization? They may reevaluate and refocus away from mating procedures and onto other pursuits where success is more controllable. These years are formative, so it's possible this process is projected into subsequent years and even hard-wired forever ( ... )
