Books?

I've just been nominated (by Peace Corps) for North Africa/the Middle East. Which, looking at the countries in which they operate, means Morocco or Jordan. My question for you is, can you recommend any good ethnographies ( Read more... )

It's been around for some years, but I'd also recommend Paul Rabinow's "Reflections on Fieldwork in Morocco". Good luck!

congrats on your nomination! i'm a nominee as well (TEFL,Eastern europe, mediterranean and Asia (EMA) region), soon to be invitee next week or soon after. I was just medically cleared last friday, so if you have questions go ahead and shoot!

i've been to morocco and its a beautiful country :) no ideas really on books, but you might ask your recruiter on "Peace Corps: the great adventure" which is something they published and is full of short volunteer stories. I think there is another one in there as well.

Lucky you! I really wanted Eastern Europe or Central Asia as I have more experience with those areas.
