Hi! I'm new here and I'm really happy I found this community.  After trying out a few different majors, I finally decided to just bite the bullet and go with what I truly love.  I've been working on my anthropology degree while juggling a job, my son, husband, etc.  I LOVE everything I've done so far.  I'm really looking forward to finally getting ( Read more... )

Congrats! I'm finishing up my MSc. in Medical Anthropology and have been experiencing difficulties in "breaking into" the field, but it also helps that my experience has been very limited, still I think it depends on how you market yourself and highlight the skills you learned!

Yeah, I'm not sure what I'm going to specialize in - I tend to gravitate towards cultural anthropology, specifically The Middle East, and (I know - totally opposite) blue-collar Americana. I don't know how that happened, lol. Anyway, I'm also interested in linguistics too so I dunno.

I have a (British) Master's in Anthropology and Development (the econ kind). Nowadays, I work in low-income housing. If you want something more traditionally field-work based, experience is key. Do field school, volunteer, etc., to try and make connections and get experience in the areas that interest you.
