*sigh*

And now, not having had a real job for the last 11 months has soundly bitten me in the ass, in that I am woefully short of guns and ammo at a time like this. And, of course, now I gotta get 'em while they're hot...

Here's to hoping we weather the next 4 years without having too many of our rights trampled into unrecognizability.

politics, guns

We can only go UP from where we're at having had our Rights raped out from under us for the last eight years...

Not entirely true. The Bush Administration quietly let the Clin-Ton Assault Weapons Ban (Brady Bill) die, which was a goodness. I'm worried that our Chicago Politician of a Glorious Leader President-Elect will try to push through something similar or worse, which would be to the detriment of all.

And we'll just have to see how he handles reporters who ask him interesting questions, now that he's confirmed.

Just out of curiosity, how would it be to the detriment of non-gun-owners? (Not that I personally don't want to own any guns, I'm just not allowed to)

I'faith, the Brady Bill was mostly cosmetic, and primarily just made life more difficult for law abiding firearms enthusiasts to enjoy their hobby. Banning pistol grips and 'high capacity magazines' doesn't have any affect on...anything, except the prices of pre-ban, and thus legal, items. It's pointless, and just punishes gunowners for being gunowners, as opposed to doing anything to actually affect crime ( ... )

it sounds like you're planning an assassination.

I'm pretty sure he's just afraid the new Democratic administration will start restricting the sale of guns, accessories, and ammunition, and he'd like to stock up on what's out there before the new laws can be passed.

Though watching Obama's acceptance speech tonight some part of me was afraid of already seeing him take a bullet. I think it'll be like that every time I watch him speak in public until he leaves office.

...of course that's what he meant...
it just SOUNDS like he's planning an assassination because he doesn't actually say that. hence the "lol"

good job taking the internet seriously, though.

Hard as it no doubt is for the type of person who'd plan an assassination on Obama to understand, that's about the worst thing that could happen. The best thing to do is to discredit him publicly, and either get him impeached and kicked out/to resign in disgrace, or to just discredit him thoroughly so that he can't win a second term, and is marginalized by an unfriendly Congress (2 years to the next round of 1/3 of Senate and all of HoR...).

I just got a couple myself... still a few more to buy before the inauguration...

Just a thought: even if such legislation were to take effect, it would be some time after inauguration. If I were in law enforcement, and someone suddenly started buying up firearms between now and inauguration, it would sure set my combat antenna to buzzing...

Just a bunch of us trying to get stuff laid in so it'll get grandfathered into any stupid anti-gun legislation.

Besides, why flag? Nothing wrong with buying guns, at least, not yet.

Honestly, I'm less worried about an assault weapons ban (which I'm almost CERTAIN will go through), than I am of his stance on concealed carry. 48 states have legal concealed carry (almost all of them 'shall issue') and this shithead thinks he can pass a federal ban on it? And the worst part? He's got the majorities to get it done.
