This is a beautiful story and you've told it well. My favorite parts were Akira playing black and Hikaru playing as Sai, and Hikaru's reflection that if Sai hadn't left him, he and Akira wouldn't be where they were now. I don't think that's touched on in a lot of fics--at least not quite as well as you put it. :) It's a very sweet story (not to underemphasize the powerful storytelling) about a slow process of healing. Lovely.

I loved how you ended this. With Hikaru figuring out that Akira was beside him and fj523sa54lkfjl3515as. It was breathtaking. I loved how Akira's facial expression was described and just the last paragraph and everything. Much love for you.

Beautifully told--the present tense totally works, by the way--and moving story. I love the way Hikaru slowly moves away from that paralyzing grief and the way Akira's presence adds weight. Fantastic work.
