Well, I finally beat the Flash version of Portal. Pretty fun, but I like puzzle games. If the real game would run on my laptop, I'd get it, but the laptop isn't meant to run PC games. I might get a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2 of my own, even if the laptop won't run it. I can borrow one of Mark's machines and install it there, so the three of us

As far as RAM, it depends on how old the computer is. It may end up needing more than just RAM. It might need a small air conditioner also.

Hehe. My big metal desk is a giant heat sink. If I'm going to do anything intensive like gaming, I'll make sure and set it there. I know that heat can be an issue. But my laptop isn't a maxed out overheater. I just need to bump the RAM to the minimum for NWN2, which is 1 gig. I can get that on one chip, and the laptop is designed for 2.
