[he was never good at paying attention with all his senses at once]
[smiles faintly at the soft steps, not turning around - it must be Bri who has come home early, and in a few seconds he'll feel her arms wrap around his waist]
[... or be tacklehugged into the hayheaps, whichever]

[it's a few weeks after the last incident with Orange-chan, and it's a damn cold night]
[but assassination knows no proper work hours, and blood shouldn't be left to soak into clothes, so Partridge is currently sneaking into the farmhouse with a bag full of freshly cleaned landry - yes, he still goes to the laundromat for this, force of habit]
[stops and listens carefully]
...
[okay, seems like both housemates are either asleep or out - not that it would matter, really, but the constant unannounced visits from playfully murderous colleagues do make a man a little paranoid]

[why does he never pay close enough attention; one day it'll cost him his head - hopefully not today]
That would have been nice. What do you want? You got your daughter tree back!
[oh crud, that came out more unfriendly than intended]
[play it cool, play it cool, ~no emotions~]

[...this place is weird. she knocks on the door and adjusts her heavy-ass backpack and waits]
[...is anyone even home? she backs up and walks around to the barn, peeking inside]
Hello?

[opens zestfully, wearing a kitchen apron]
Hello?
[leans out, looks around, spots her and waves]
Hey! I'm over here!

Hi! I'm going to unbind Lev and your wife, are they around?

[ she's in the rafters of the stables, carefully watching for anyone from the farm, but more specifically the owner ]
[ she does still have a score to settle, after all ]

[dumps it in front of the horses and the donkey]
Here you are! Can't have you starving, hm?
[smiles and rubs one horse between the ears as it leans down to feed]
You know what? I think I'll buy a tractor! You guys only need one meadow in the summmer, so I'll plant potatoes on the other!

[ is that a disembodied giggle in the stable? surely not ]

/hint: those red rose petals leading into the kitchen weren't put there by a ghost
/also guess who's sitting at the dining room table wearing this and getting through a cigarette

Hey! What are you doing up?
[smiles and walks over]

[the roses are unusual, and isn't this dress kind of fancy..?]
