Summary: "Jim wakes up, sob tearing through him like a chainsaw slicing into the bark xylem heartwood.  Chest aching, heart thudding unevenly through his ribcage and in his ears."
Warning: Emotionally intense, probably AU.  A twist on hurt/comfort.
Notes: This demanded to be written.  I don't know if I'll complete it.  I'm taking things as they come.

Also, since there seems to be some ambiguity on this point-- THIS IS NOT A SEQUEL TO OBSERVATIONS.  There are some inconsistencies to ensure that Observations and Two Summers stand on their own.
