I love the Shizuka pattern - but don't think I could get it in England? Where did you find it - is it commercially available? Can you tell I want it?

I picked it up at my local yarn store. I checked out their website, and they definitely do ship outside the US. If you click the link to the picture, you can buy it right there! The pattern is $6US, but I don't know what shipping would be to the UK - however, it's like four pieces of paper so probably not more than a letter?

It really is lovely! I'm so leaning towards it.

ETA: Errr, their = the pattern company's not my LYS'. It's earlyish and I have pronoun confusion!

Thanks - never thought of that!! I have a friend coming over in a week, and I've asked her to see if she can get it sent to her. She can always mail it to me if it doesn't arrive in time. Love the shape, and the best bit - it comes in bigger sizes - yeah for American patterns - everyone in the U.K. is wraith like, you'd think from the patterns!

I wish I could knit like that. :)

The hoodie is great so I voted for it, but the shizuka would be cool with one large button on it to sort of ... make it cooler, lol. Without that it does look a bit frumpy, I think.

You totally could if you wanted to. :D The hoodie is surprisingly easy and a really great first sweater pattern (I say because it was my first sweater).

Ooh, the button is a good idea! Maybe one large one or two really funky ones. I like it.

Top Chef: I wish that the final judging table would take past performance into serious consideration. I think on any program like this, the finale should consider the contestant's complete oeuvre.

Hosea was...kind of a snarky immature brat. The big rivalry emanated more from him. Stefan was a brat, too, but at least it was in a cool and confident sort of way.

Carla had some surprisingly good performances late in the competition, but I do think she was a gentle soul and a bit too easily pushed around, and not just in the finale.

Yes! ESPECIALLY for the final judging table, I think past performances should be taken into account. I generally like judging meal by meal for the weekly challenges, but the final challenge should be an overall look.

I liked Stefan more than Hosea for the entire show cause Stefan could back his cockiness up. Hosea - like you said - was just a brat. Carla so should have stood up for herself more and I don't think she has the take no prisoners attitude of a top chef. But Casey should have kept her mouth shut. It so wasn't her place.

Surprisingly though, this is really the first finals result I haven't agreed with. So it had to happen sometime, right?

I love hoodies, so that's the one I voted for.

But! Yes. I agree with you on Top Chef. Hosea's been okay the whole time, but Stefan and Carla are just better.

Like merteuil said above, I think they should judge the final meal based on the whole season. Stefan and Carla so got robbed. I LOVED seeing Stefan be a sweetheart to Carla when she got emotional.

The swing sweater looks good, especially in a different color, but the hoodie is so cute I just had to vote for it. So you're almost finished making one of those alredy? Wow, that's so neat. I wish I could do something like that!

You totally could! (Yes, I know, I'm a knitting enabler) But it's a gorgeously written and put together pattern that's much easier than it looks. I seriously need to finish the pink sweater up and wear it! I can't wait, but I am being lazy about the 'sewing together' bits.
