Can someone explain to me how last week the creeks in the park were frozen, but today it's hot enough to sit outside and start sweating?

Our car doors were frozen shut and took a long time to wrench free. It took ten minutes to scrape ice from the car, not including the back windshield, which had so many layers of ice we just had to leave it be.

And I had to WALK THE DOG! She'd better be grateful.
