When a fandom fails you, move onto the next one ie Due South Love

So it seems like me and The Office are having a breakup. I've still watched Women's Appreciation only once, not because it was all that bad but I have a bad feeling about it. I'm pissed off at the characters and the writers and the fact that I have to defend characters who I love even when I'm angry at them but also hurting with them. Yeah ( Read more... )

Aw, don't give up. Michael and Jan have hit a rough patch, but they'll get back together. It'll be okay.

But I sort of feel the same way about not being able to enjoy other parts of the show. I'm too busy focusing on M/J.

Hopefully we'll have some sort of resolution in the finale. And hopefully it won't be as completely depressing as WA.

I'm not giving up. I just don't trust the writers right now so I'm waiting to see what happens with the finale. I just don't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed again.

:( I thought I was prepared for it but obviously I wasn't. It was good, I'm just finding it hard to get past the hurt right now. Once I have some distance/great episodes, hopefully it'll get better and I'll be able to watch it some more.

Yeah that's right (love her name). I know big things will happen but I have no idea what direction they're going in so I'm trying not to get too optimistic. We'll see.

I'm sorry you are feeling bummed about The Office, but don't give up! Also, I have to say that I'm surprised Michael/Jan is ruining your enjoyment of the show. There have definitely been other shows where one couple has dominated the entire thing for me, but not so with The Office. I mean, of course I LOVE THEM and they are my favorite aspect of the show, but I love every other character so much, and they are all so well written, that even when it isn't a Jan/Michael-heavy episode, I still enjoy it immensely.

I hope you find your Office love again. At the very least, I'd watch through the end of this season. I think the writers have been building up all season, for both Jan/Michael and Pam/Jim (if you like Pam/Jim...I do but I am not all squee-y about them). I'm not spoiled, but I just have a feeling big things will happen.

Also I have never seen Due South. I vaguely remember seeing commercials for it as a kid. What is it?

See usually Michael/Jan don't dominate for me because I love EVERYONE which is why this is so surprising and depressing for me. This one just hurt way too much for me and frustrated me with everything. I just really want them to be happy and I hate how they're messing it all up. I would never stop watching The Office, I'm just trying not to get so involved. I do like Pam/Jim and I'm excited for Pam being honest but that ship requires even more patience with the characters which I'm losing now.

Due South is about Fraser, a mountie who comes to Chicago looking for his father's killer and then stays and works as a liason with the Chicago police department specifically Ray. It would be a boring police procedural except that Fraser is completely unique with his ways from Canada and works so well off of his partner Ray (even though there's two of them, long story). It's a great show, I'd check it out if you're interested.

BTW I LOVE your icon! They were so cute at Paley.

DUE SOUTH!!!! What a nice surprise on my flist. I loved that show an unnatural amount when it was acutally on tv. However, I was still in highschool, so I missed out on most of the homosexual subtext. Poor innocent me, it was a time before I knew of the Inter Net. Now I really want to watch all the episodes again. I catch reruns sometimes on cable and it's like running into an old friend that you've been missing. Mounty on the Bounty was one of my favourite eps. Just recently, I was teaching a friend to swim (she left it a bit late) and I used the bloom-kick 'em in the head method of instruction. It's not as effective as it looks.

I kind of want to write a cross over-fic now, where Dwight goes to Toronto (Ha! I mean Chicago!) and has to help Ray and Fraser solve a crime. Ray would look on in quippy horror as Dwight and Fraser licked and sniffed their way to an arrest. (Uh. TWSS?)I'm thinking "International Incident at a Chicago Paper Conference."

So much love for Due South. The slash is definitely out there, I love how the writers/actors encouraged it. I know the feeling though, happened to me with Smallville. I'd definitely see it again sometime. Hee kick'em in the head, I forgot that part. I would loove to see a Fraser and Dwight crossover. I'm always catching similarities between them, it's fun. The fic title already sounds good!
