When a fandom fails you, move onto the next one ie Due South Love

So it seems like me and The Office are having a breakup. I've still watched Women's Appreciation only once, not because it was all that bad but I have a bad feeling about it. I'm pissed off at the characters and the writers and the fact that I have to defend characters who I love even when I'm angry at them but also hurting with them. Yeah ( Read more... )

I haven't seen any episodes of S3 of The Office except for the one with Oscar and gaydar. I'm waiting for the DVD's because I only recently finished S2. But I have been hearing mixed reviews on how this season is turning out. I can understand the frustration when it comes to certain shows and particular characters, but I think that fanfiction has a lot to do with it. I find that people put too much into their own stories that they are disappointed when the script writers don't follow the same path with the characters. At least, that's what a friend of mine said. With most shows that I love I just trust that the writers will do something worthwhile, even if it doesn't seem like it at first. So, whatever you may not be liking about Michael/Jan will likely fix itself. The writers won't want to alienate their fans. :)

Overall I still think S3 is awesome and hilarious. The people who think it has gone down in quality are usually huge Jim/Pam shippers who are frustrated which although I understand, it's not the whole show. Which is why I hate that ship is ruining the show for me and why I definitely agree its my own preferences that are making me sad about the show. That's true about the fanfic, I just want to love my characters and my relationship and it sucks that its not happening now. Hopefully it'll get better. I have no idea what will happen in the finale so it's possible something amazing will happen and make me love the show again.

Yay! Due South! I was the same with recognizing scenes from videos the first time I saw it. I had watched a crazy amount of Due South vids before I ever saw the show. I think Kowalski was the first character that I adored before knowing anything about him or seeing a single episode with him--just from the videos. *g* Oh, Fraser.

It surprises me how well I remember the scenes. Often it's just the clothes and/or setting that remind me. Today's episode I recognized a scene from Flying Home a few minutes before it happened and then saw the hat toss from Out Here. I've seen a lot, so many times and some I've seen since 2003ish so I have a good memory for them. Due South is actually the first (and only) fandom I ever read a lot of fanfic (well for me anyways) for so I loved Fraser and RayK long before I saw them together in an episode. They're so lovable!

I still have high hopes for the finale :) Also, I thought I'd link you up to a comment in the spoiler TWOP section since I know you're frequenting it less- it's not huge but from "he who shall not be named". http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=3135546&view=findpost&p=7789327

I as well love Due South and have the seasons on dvd :)

Well at least some people are optimistic. I need something good before I trust the writers again. I'm not frequenting the spoiler thread at all so thanks. It certainly sounds interesting.

Awesome :) Yay for Due South love!

Yeah, I hope so. The good news I'm feeling more happy about it. I could never break up with The Office for long :)

I'm feeling better about it too. I think mostly because of your little spoilerness. *nods*

I just kind of wish they hadn't made Jan as freaky as they did. I don't think I could breakup with The Office. *laughs at self* I was just thinking if I ever did, I could listen to some James Blunt on the internet..the like 20 second preview. Oh michael!

Ok I really should work now.
