Date: February 12, 2003 Character(s): Everyone? Location: Annwn Square Status: Public Summary: Katie attempts to solve the riddle. Completion: Incomplete
Cedric's mouth dropped open when he heard the pretty blond witch speak. He had been mulling over the second riddle as much as the first, but had been played in Hufflepuff and not Ravenclaw for a reason. He wasn't particularly clever or smart. He wasn't unintelligent, of course, but he didn't have the way of thinking that was required for something like this. Something so intricate as the riddle.
His heart beat grew quicker as he waited on baited breath for the answer. He hoped it would just be the captives being let out. Since the moment he heard Cho Chang was as a captive he had spent a plethora of time trying to sort everything out to no avail. He had started to get disheartened until he came to the Annwn square and heard the blond speak up.
The Entity was standing quietly in the Square awaiting the humans' next champion to arise and step up to the challenge. It was growing bored with the entire affair and that was the reason for the second riddle. The Entity was hoping that today would be the end but it had watched ten fools attempt to solve the riddle already and fail miserably

Katie held her breath as she waited for some sign that her guess had been right and the appearance of the Herald had her sighing in relief. She walked down the platform and into the crowd, moving to the side as the captives came out. She leaned against the side of the building and crossed her arms.
She felt nothing but relief as she watched everyone come out into the light. She was glad this was over but she was also feeling rebellious and angry. Her eyes scanned the crowd, trying to find whoever was responsible for this. She sensed he was there, sure that he'd want to see the emotion and reaction of his people but she couldn't pinpoint who it was.
It had moved through the crowd, finding a trail as they surged toward the portal to see the captives emerge into their presence. The Entity was pleased to have the town find peace once more and the resulting joy would surely add to its power it was gathering. It had thought that the townspeople would just continue to fail but the young woman had impressed it with her demeanor and answer.
Walking behind her, it watched as she searched the crowd, wondering if she had someone but upon closer look, it saw the anger on her features and changed its original thought and decided she was looking for it. The Entity hesitated, thinking back to its encounter with Nymphadora but knew this one could not shift.
As it stood behind her, the Entity reached out and tapped her shoulder before it smiled. "You did wonderfully. Congratulations on solving the riddle and rescuing the captives."
Katie felt something focusing on her briefly before she felt the tap on her shoulder. She turned and raised a brow at the comment. She wasn't sure but it didn't sound completely sincere. She'd steeled herself, her face turning impassive as she met its gaze.
She nodded her head in acknowledgment, not really feeling inclined to voice her thanks at his congratulations. She wasn't quite sure who this was. She sensed a strong power, something connected to the Entity perhaps.
"Do I know you?" she asked, her voice emotionless.
"No, Ms. Bell but I've observed you." It smiled and gave her an appreciative nod. it held out its hand to her, its smile warming even more. "You're quite intuitive and very intelligent." The Entity understood she was confused but it wanted to see what kind of person had solved its riddles and if she'd be interested in a position in its ranks.
"My name is Weaver." It said, then looked at her again, wanting to find out more. The Entity's hands went behind its back and it rocked on its heels. "I have been here every day and I was wondering how you were able to solve the riddle?" Looking past her at the crowd, he saw the blatant joy present there and commented. "You've certainly done a wonderful thing for the town."
The sunlight was bright almost to the point of being explosive.
Luna had never thought that she would find the sunlight oppressive, but after so long in the darkness of the dungeons, the purity of the sunlight scorched her blue eyes. She shut them tightly, blinded by its radience. It was enough, her eyelids blood red. She covered her eyes with her hands, sinking down to her knees in her blindness.
It was all too much, the wind blowing through her hair, the sounds of people, she smell of cold air and damp streets. After the neutral grey existence she had led for twelve days, the richness and light she was exposed to, the leaving of the cave as it were, simply overwhlemed her. She lowered her head, shifting her hands to her ears and trying to will out the world until she could handle it again.
Zach had been there every day, waiting for some fucking idiot to step up to the damn stage and fail. It infuriated him but there wasn't much he could do because he was no fucking better than the fuckers taking their shots. He didn't get what tied them together and he'd given up on trying because there were people better at that than him

It seemed like forever since she'd last been held. It brought another bunch of overwhelming sensations: the warmth of his arms, the scent of his skin, the soft growl of his voice. She shuddered, her arms wrapping around him tightly. She buried her face against his chest, wanting nothing but him.
Luna felt his fingers run through her hair and gave a hiccupping sob. It had only been twelve days. She had spent months in that dark dungeon in the Malfoy manor, and it had done her no harm. These twelve days had defeated her. The combination of memories, boredom and sheer lack of communal compassion had undid her.
"I want to go home." She wanted nothing more than to hide away in the safety of Zach's embrace, in the security of the knowledge that she was loved, and that she was now safe. Luna's hands clenched into fists, taking handfuls of his jacket with it. "Take me home, Zach."
Zach focused on Luna, forgetting everything else for a moment as he held Luna close, knowing that she needed this comfort more than anything right now. She seemed to be in good shape physically, even if she felt as if she'd lost some weight. It had been far too long without her and he sighed as he felt her crushed against his chest, even through her trembling sobs because he knew she was there and he could care for her.
"Right." He answered quietly as he pulled away. "A good bath, a meal and our bed then. Not necessarily in that order." When she pulled on his jacket, he took her hands away, smiling down at her before he said, "I missed you so much, Luna." He kissed her forehead, then asked, "Were you treated okay? Are you hurt?"
It had become a routine. Every day he and Fleur would make their way to the Square to watch the latest attempt to solve the riddle. So far, it seemed no one had even come close and every day he and Fleur would go home and try to survive another night. It was becoming harder though and they'd both stopped working on the vineyards to instead pour over the files on the captives once more

Fleur ran and kept up with Bill as closely as she could, watching and laughing with sheer joy as her husband shoved aside anyone in their way as they approached Victoire. Fleur's baby looked wonderful and excited as she giggled and waved at the crowd before her like a proud Veela in front of her admirers. Victiore squealed in delight when her father swept her up in her arms. Tears of absolute happiness stained Fleur's face.
"Let us take her 'ome and not come out of ze 'ouse for a week," Fleur bubbled as she wormed her arms around her husband and daughter. Their warmth was invigorating and renewing; she never wanted to be without it ever again. Fleur snugged her face against Victoire's.
"Je t'aime, je t'aime, je t'aime mon ange." (I love you, I love you, I love you my angel.)
"She sleeps with us." Bill whispered to his wife as she hugged their daughter from behind. "I don't want her out of our sight." He pulled away and looked at his smiling daughter who reached down and pulled on his whiskers that he hadn't shaved since she'd gone missing. "Ouch." He grinned and then rubbed his nose against hers. "Even though that thing said we could be assured they wouldn't be harmed again, I don't want to take a chance

"Home for a very long time," Fleur agreed. She was beaming. "We will not leave ze bed for ze week, maybe longer!" Fleur tickled Victoire's belly and the child bubbled with uncontrollable laughter, kicking the air happily, not truly trying to escape her mother's sweet torture.
After he kissed her, Fleur looked into her husband's eyes as she pulled back. He had the most beautiful eyes.
"Zere is no other love like eet," she told him, "I thought I knew love when you came into my life, and I love you so much. But zis love we share, ze three of us, zere is nothing in ze world like eet. Eet is my life."
