Lily ended up at the front door of Harry and Ginny's house faster than she had thought. She had hurried out of the door, grabbing her coat, wand and notebook on the way and had meandered through the streets until she reached her destination. It was only then she felt the nervousness sink in. Merlin, what if something happened and their tempers blew up again.

No, she thought, she was simply going to check on Ginny, see if she could help her and then hopefully she wouldn't say or do anything to make her son back away again. If she could, she would try to talk to him, try to make amends... unless, he ignored her. Lily didn't hope so. But in the mean time she would just try to act naturally.

Taking a deep breath, she steeled her nerves and knocked.

At the knock on the door, Harry got up from his seat on the sofa. Walking over the door, he took a deep breath and pulled it open. When he came face to face with his mother, Harry didn't say anything, but he simply stepped aside to let her in.

He didn't really feel like talking much. Harry had asked her to come over to check on Ginny and that was his priority right now. If his mother wanted to talk, it had to wait until she was done with her Healer business on Ginny. If she didn't want to talk, then Harry was safe for another while.

"She's upstairs." He curtly said, turning around and headed for the stairs. Coming to the top of them, he led his mother into the bedroom, where Ginny laid curled up under the covers.

To say life at the moment sucked was probably an understatement. Ginny honestly couldn't remember the last time she had felt so awful. Sure she had been sick before but she'd always been rather lucky and said illnesses usually cleared up in a few days on their own. Which was good because when one is the youngest of seven children time to be ill was a luxury one couldn't really afford ( ... )

Lily didn't say anything as she followed Harry upstairs, she didn't want to bring things down from the beginning by interrupting the awkward peace at the moment. Instead she focused on the task ahead. Getting her daughter-in-law up and running again. She stopped in the doorway and took in the pale sight of Ginny lying in bed, curled up.

Shrugging off her coat, she walked past her son and sat down on the edge of the bed. Lily sighed with a small frown as she studied her... patient. Slowly, she reached over and placed her hand against Ginny's forehead. She was running a high fever that was certain.

Completely pushing the tension between her son and herself to the back of her mind, Lily entered what had often been described to her before as Healer mode by Mungo. She focused on Ginny and her predicament. She gave her a small smile and asked. "How are you feeling? You have a fever. Any pain?"

Leaving Ginny to get some rest, Harry descended the stairs again. 'Pneumonia. Brilliant.' He mentally sighed. Well, he had already figured out it wasn't a simply case of the flu or Ginny would've gotten better already. But pneumonia was a nasty little thing which could last for another while.

He walked into the kitchen and prepared a pot of tea. Harry doubted his mother would leave without saying a thing or two, even if he didn't really feel like talking to her. But at this moment, he simply wished she wouldn't say anything and just go back to... wherever she was staying or doing her work these days.

Lily had given Ginny a final look over, before leaving her to rest, then slowly walked down the stairs. She would have to look into the Muggle antibiotics to see if there would be any side effects if they were used on wizards or witches. It would help a great deal with Ginny's illness if it was possible.

She also knew that perhaps she should leave, now that the most pressing thing had been taken care off. But, this was the first time in months that she had been in the presence of her son... and she just wanted it to last a bit longer. Lily stopped in the doorway to the kitchen and watched him prepare a pot of tea, she didn't know what to say. Not without a possible confrontation in the making, so she stayed quiet and soaked up the sight of her not so little boy.

Waiting for the water to boil, Harry continued to stare at it. He could feel his mother's eyes on him and he couldn't even bring himself to turn around and say something. What was there to say anyway? Annoyance still raged inside of him, annoyance on the verge of anger whenever he thought about her and Snape of all people.

But quite some time had passed since they'd seen each other again. Harry didn't want to make a scene. Not in his own house, not else where either. He just wanted to pretend nothing was wrong. Maybe even pretend his mother wasn't here. No, he didn't want to do that. All he wanted was to get rid of the problem, and he preferred it to get solved without him having to cause a scene about it.

Denial, or simply ignoring it, was a pretty thing.

Lily nibbled on her lower lip and looked down at the floor. Merlin, she wanted to say something, anything at all which could make things better. But, she knew that there wasn't much which could make this problem, situation between them go away just like that ( ... )
