Lily ended up at the front door of Harry and Ginny's house faster than she had thought. She had hurried out of the door, grabbing her coat, wand and notebook on the way and had meandered through the streets until she reached her destination. It was only then she felt the nervousness sink in. Merlin, what if something happened and their tempers blew up again.

No, she thought, she was simply going to check on Ginny, see if she could help her and then hopefully she wouldn't say or do anything to make her son back away again. If she could, she would try to talk to him, try to make amends... unless, he ignored her. Lily didn't hope so. But in the mean time she would just try to act naturally.

Taking a deep breath, she steeled her nerves and knocked.

At the knock on the door, Harry got up from his seat on the sofa. Walking over the door, he took a deep breath and pulled it open. When he came face to face with his mother, Harry didn't say anything, but he simply stepped aside to let her in.

He didn't really feel like talking much. Harry had asked her to come over to check on Ginny and that was his priority right now. If his mother wanted to talk, it had to wait until she was done with her Healer business on Ginny. If she didn't want to talk, then Harry was safe for another while.

"She's upstairs." He curtly said, turning around and headed for the stairs. Coming to the top of them, he led his mother into the bedroom, where Ginny laid curled up under the covers.

To say life at the moment sucked was probably an understatement. Ginny honestly couldn't remember the last time she had felt so awful. Sure she had been sick before but she'd always been rather lucky and said illnesses usually cleared up in a few days on their own. Which was good because when one is the youngest of seven children time to be ill was a luxury one couldn't really afford ( ... )

Lily didn't say anything as she followed Harry upstairs, she didn't want to bring things down from the beginning by interrupting the awkward peace at the moment. Instead she focused on the task ahead. Getting her daughter-in-law up and running again. She stopped in the doorway and took in the pale sight of Ginny lying in bed, curled up.

Shrugging off her coat, she walked past her son and sat down on the edge of the bed. Lily sighed with a small frown as she studied her... patient. Slowly, she reached over and placed her hand against Ginny's forehead. She was running a high fever that was certain.

Completely pushing the tension between her son and herself to the back of her mind, Lily entered what had often been described to her before as Healer mode by Mungo. She focused on Ginny and her predicament. She gave her a small smile and asked. "How are you feeling? You have a fever. Any pain?"

Ginny could almost see the exact moment that Lily slipped from Lily the person to Lily the Healer. It always was an odd thing to her to see how they shifted like that, the two distinct personalities working in one person. She let her fingers tug idly at little bits of pilling in the blanket, never one to feel comfortable in this sort of situation. She hated being sick and the feeling of having to be taken care of.

Ginny offered her mother in law a bit of a smirk though it did lack its usual energry. "What comes after like hell? That one," she replied hoping to lighten the mood in the room slightly. She wondered if there was a knife that she could cut the tension with. "Pain mostly everywhere," she started, unsure how really to describe the general feeling of not well she had, "my chest feels heavy, and it's hard to catch my breath." Her eyes flickered for a moment to Harry, trying to guage his feelings of this not so awkward situation.

Lily couldn't stop the small snort of laughter from bubbling out and she pulled her hand back from Ginny's forehead. Her small joke didn't completely wipe away the tension, but it helped. Picking up her wand and notebook, Lily ran at first a simple diagnostics spell over her daughter-in-law. Heavy chest, hard to catch her breath, a fever. "Any coughing?" She asked gently while jotting down the notes to keep track of the symptoms for later use.

"What about headaches?" Lily added as an afterthought. If Ginny was feverish, had a hard time breathing and most of the part about the pain everywhere, then there would be a good chance of headaches as well. Lily thought it over, placing the symptoms together in a pattern like she had been taught early on in her training.

Harry didn't say anything or didn't move. Leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed in front of his chest, he simply surveyed the scene. When Ginny's eyes looked at him for a moment, he gave a vague dismissive gesture with his hand.

He didn't want Ginny to start trying to figure out his feeling about this entire situation. Hell, he didn't want to try and figure it out himself. All he wanted was to get Ginny back on her feet. She had needed a Healer and whether it was his mother or someone else, Harry didn't care as long as his wife got better.

He kept a close eye on her as his mother examined her. He didn't care much for his mother's methods or questions. It was her job. And Harry's was to look after his wife.

She gave a bit of a weak smile to Harry, knowing that this was hard for him. She returned her attention to Lily and nodded to her questions. "Coughing, worse at night usually. And the headache tends to come and go," she replied watching Lily write the symptoms down. She shifted a little in the bed, a shiver running down her spine.

Nodding slowly, Lily consciously still kept her attention on Ginny. She didn't think she could work as Healer in the future if she wasn't able to block out the tension that might accompany her patients or the worry from the relatives. She simply needed to focus. But she also didn't like what the symptoms were telling her. Lily grimaced as she wrote down her conclusion.

She sighed and scratched her temple, then looked at Ginny. "Ginny? Have you been exposed to any swinging temperatures lately? It sounds like you have pneumonia." Lily glanced down at her notes and listed them in a soft tone of voice. "Bad bout of coughing, a fever, hard to breathe, pain in your chest. Most likely you started out with a light flu?"

She listened to Lily rattle off the sypmtoms and wrinkled her nose a bit. Pneumonia. That was not good. That meant more time stuck inside feeling like hell. Ginny nodded slighty, "I got caught out in the rain the other day," she mentioned, remembering the stupidity that was thinking it'd be fine to go for a quick fly despite the black clouds rolling in.

Ginny settled back into the pillows a slight defeated look on her face. She had really been hoping for being told she just had the flu and would be fine in a few days. She wasn't really the kind who took well to being confined to bed.

Lily smiled a bit as Ginny wrinkled her nose, she could understand that. From what she understood about her then Ginny wasn't the type to stay still for longer periods of time. She sighed and nodded. "There you got it. Getting caught in the rain."

Putting down her notebook, Lily looked at Ginny. "So. It means more bed rest for you as well as lots of fluids and most of all more rest." She smirked a little, but quickly wiped it away. "If it had just been a normal cold, I would have recommended some Pepperup Potion. Though it might help your recovery along faster... Muggles would have used antibiotics, but I don't know enough yet to know how Muggle medicine works with your magic." Lily said thoughtfully.

Oh to have a time machine and be able to go back and tell herself to not be a stubborn idiot and go flying. But really she probably still wouldn't have listened and would be in this same spot anyways. Stuck in bed with the end still vaguely out of sight.

She shrugged a little to Lily. She honestly didn't know the answer. If it didn't have an engine and couldn't be taken apart it wasn't part of the small amount of Muggle things her father brought into the house. "I'm not sure, but if it might get me out of this bed sooner I'm willing to try anything," she said.

Lily nodded slowly. "Then begin with a simple Pepperup Potion to lay out the groundwork. Get somee sleep, plenty of water preferably and I'll look into the Muggle medicine issue." She spoke softly, trying to keep a professional expression on her face. But it was hard when it was her daughter-in-law lying in bed with a fever, her pneumonia caused by her own zealousness of wanting to fly in the rain.

Shrugging lightly, Lily blocked out the heavy tension of having Harry stand over them, watching. It was getting a bit tougher to do so. She wanted to give him her full attention, like always. But she also needed to keep an eye on Ginny, in case she might decide that bedrest wasn't something for her. Well, less than she already thought of it.

Ginny made mental note of her mother in law's instructions, she would definitely be following them to the tee, anything to get out of this bed sooner. She offered the woman a small smile, grateful for her having come out to see her. With the tension heavy in the room she knew it wasn't an enjoyable experience for anyone. Ginny let her head rest back against the pillows, the familiar heavy feeling of sleep washing over her. "Thanks, Lily, I really appreciate it," she said, a yawn passing through her lips after her words.

She gave another quick glance to Harry, willing him to be nice with the power of her stare. She was pretty sure it wouldn't work. Ginny looked back to Lily, "I should get some rest, thank you again."
