completely unrelated to your post but commenting ehre cause I;ve been meaning to tell you for weeks: There's a little boy in one of my swimming classes who, hand to god, is a miniature Anderson Cooper. Completely. Like, eeeerily so. Did I not think his mother would freak out I'd be trying to get a picture to prove this. it's FREAKY. And therefore I always think of you and giggle whenever I'm teaching him. ^^
hee, well, he'll be legal in, oh, thirteen years :P
and now to actually, yknow, acknowledge your post:
Suspected that Snape was the Half-Blood Prince (c'mon, who ELSE would know all those potions?) before it was revealed.
what kills me is I NEVER thought of Snape. I was racking my brain trying to figure out who was good at potions. (Lily? Slughorn?) and somehow my mind just NEVER WENT THERE. *headdesk*
and I thought Remus/Tonks was cute in a "aawh, he deserves so happiness" kinda way :)
I started suspecting Snape in the beginning, and then I stopped suspecting him for a little bit after he caught Harry performing one of the HBP's curses on Draco (OMG THAT SCENE RAWKED), and then started suspecting him AGAIN after the description of Eileen Prince. ;)
And Remus/Tonks is totally cute, and I'm totally fine with it, because it still easily allows me to believe that before OotP, Remus and Sirius were totally in love and the REAL reason he couldn't commit to Tonks because he was still mourning Sirius and felt guilty about wanting some happiness with her.
Ahhhhhhhhh. Fanwankery. *blissfully reads between the lines* ;)
OMG DUDE!!!! It was, like, CANONIZING Harry/Draco! *gawk* For the first time ever, I could REALLY REALLY SEE IT. WOW.
I fucking LOVED this book. It's tied with PoA for my favorite of the series right now (because NOTHING will ever beat the Shrieking Shack scene for me, NOTHING *g*).
I was right there with you. And I have a lot of reasons for thinking that Snape is totally still on Harry's side--namely, not only did he let him live, but he spent the entire year teaching him how to beat Voldemort, and then reiterated it on his flight.
"I AM NOT A COWARD!" Holy shit, can you not see that in movie form? Wow.
I already want to re-read it. Even though there was not enough Lupin (of course, that statement means nothing, because I could read the ten-volume autobiography of Remus Lupin and say that). And HA. I love how everyone, once they get past the initial "WTFTONKS?" factor, seems to be going "Alright. Fine. If she makes my big gay werewolf boyfriend happy. FINE."
And omg. *bounces* MAGIC ZOMBIES, ANNIE. MAGIC ZOMBIES!
OMG THE MAGIC ZOMBIES WERE TOTALLY CREEPY!!!! GYAH!!!
And dude, my favorite parts of the HP novels are EVERY SINGLE MENTION OF REMUS LUPIN'S NAME. Seriously. I wibble uncontrollably and read his name a million times and swoon. ;)
And as for Remus/Tonks, dude, I totally knew that was gonna happen
How? Honestly, the only thing resembling foreshadowing I saw for that was Tonks being OOC to the point where I was seriously wondering if she was under Imperius. Tonks kicked ass in OotP: she didn't strike me as the kind who'd moon around (no pun intended) when Crossed in Love[tm].
Besides, Tonks is cute, and Remus deserves someone in his life.
Yeah, Tonks was pretty OOC this book -- and frankly, my suspicions weren't held up by anything concrete in OotP. I just kind of guessed that Rowling was going to start pairing people off, and if Bill didn't get Tonks, then Remus would. But yes, the setup and the characterization are kinda shady.
People, people--keep in mind we were in Harry's pov the entire time. There was no set-up because Harry rarely saw the two of them. Keep in mind, too, that Tonks was not only frustrated in love, but was also mourning Sirius.
