Wow, and I thought *I* used to get picked on for being thin in grade school...luckily I don't get teased as much now because I'm a more normal size (Although I really did like being thinner, and wouldn't mind being thinner than I am now...I just wouldn't want to be if people made fun of me)
but...that's just terrible what happened to you. And I REALLY dislike the whole double standard thing with fat vs. skinny people. It's like the whole black people can call each other "niggas" but a white person never could without getting beat. (Not that anyone should be called a "nigga," just that if they don't like it, why do some of them say it to one another??)

I wouldn't make fun of a fat person and I'm skinny, so I expect the same common decency that a fat person wouldn't make fun of me, or even of girls that are even thinner than me.

Pretty much. These silly double standards are extra prominent in female dominated pass-times, too. :(

I absolutely agree with the "beauty isn't a size" thing. And you're right, discrimination is discrimination, no matter who is targeted.

I think beauty should be more of a health thing than a size thing. You could be a size 00 or a size 14, so long as you're healthy, who cares?

I agree. I've seen tons of larger, healthy, fit people who just glow : ) Same can be said of thin people! Not all thin people look deathly, geez.

Blarg, it's a world full of double standards. :/ There's not much that's gonna fix it unless the media decides that ~*~EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL~*~ which is damn unlikely because businesses catering to the left behind will lose sales and eeeeveryone knows that money is everything. Guh.

Unrelated, but reading through the comments to that entry, some of the replies to #7 piss me off. >_> /angry cosplay nerd who enjoys lolita and thinks that the two can combined just fine kthx

And part of the problem with the ~*~EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL~*~ is that that sort of attitude can also encourage really unhealthy lifestyles.

(and I think the cosplay lolita thing is regarding people who don't ackowledge it as an actual fashion and the annoying twats who pop up on egl sometimes all "LOOK AT MY LOLITA COSUPURE IT ISH TEH KAWAAAIIIII")

Yourporn-ish icon made me come here.. sorry. Yeah me and a friend had this trouble at school.. she was very very slim and was picked on and I was big, and thus.. more picking on.

I wish people would fuck off or at leats if they don't have anything nice don't say anything. But yeah, annoys me too.

I think a lot of it is a backlash against the whole 'you must be thin to be beautiful' thing, but it is pretty retarded. >_>

In fact, a lot of popular beauty 'rules' are pretty damn retarded, full stop.

The "you must be thin to be beautiful" thing really isn't as prominent these days as some people think. The attitude I'm seeing the most in the media these days is "Bigger IS better!" etc. That's all very well and good, but only up to a point. Go too far into either direction and it becomes a very serious health concern.
