One of the things I did over break was reread the Twilight series. It may have only been five months since the last time I read them, but I appreciate Edward Cullen a little more with every overly-cheesy and somewhat poorly written word. I was also reminded of my irrational hatred for Jacob Black ( Read more... )

sparkly vampires, ranty mcrantersons, oh fandom

YAAAAAAAAY ohmygosh!!

Just like Edward, Jacob won't age (as long as he's phasing, and who is to say he'll stop phasing?) which isn't exactly doing Bella any favors. So she can go on living her life and seeing her family and friends and have children of her own one day? With an eternally sixteen year-old boy? Oh okay. That wouldn't be at all awkward.
Had NOT thought about that. That is just as gross as Edward "wanting" Bella to stay human, though it's not like they would have had kids.

This is so wonderfully logical, I had such a good time reading it. Did you post this in the Twilight comms? I think a lot of people would be interested in reading it.

ETA: also, is it okay if I friend you?

From what I gathered in the books, they'll keep phasing as long as vamps are around. Even if the Cullens leave, there's other vamps passing through Forks. Just like Laurent, Victoria and James did. So I don't get how he's any better off in that regard than dear 'ol Edward.

No, because I don't know where I would post it. I'm not sure it's E/B centric enough for lion_lamb, and I think it would just cause a huge war if I posted it at any general comms. I dunno.

ETA: also, is it okay if I friend you?

Of course! I'll friend you back.

But if it caused a war, then we would have WANK!

TRUE. Heh. I don't know, maybe I could post it at la_bellaragazza? Which would mean I would have to re-join it. Hmm...

Found my way here through saint_renegade... Hope you don't mind.

THANK YOU for being so eloquent and smart when these very character traits are so rare in this fandom.

My point is that they're both controlling and overprotective.

I've always thought that Edward was controlling/overprotective for Bella's sake while Jacob was only mostly jealous and just wanted Bella for himself. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't see it another way.

You know, the one thing I will never *ever* get is how people can forgive Jake's manipulative ways. That, and how they can dismiss the fact that Bella became a challenge for him, something to get, rather than someone whose happiness is more important than anything else.

Of course not! Thanks for reading.

I agree. I get Edward's actions a lot more than I do Jacob's, which is weird because they both, supposedly, want the same thing. But the way Edward goes about things is just so much more honorable (not always, but he's not perfect). And screw Jacob being sixteen. I've heard that enough.

Oh, gee, you cannot believe how much I agree with this. I came here through saint-renegade's journal and really didn't think I'd read all of, just skim to the best parts, or whatever, BUT WOW. I really did read everything and agreed with you to the T!

You cannot imagine how large and fiery my hate is for Jacob Black, adn all your reasons are JUST why I dislike him so much. When I say I hate Jacob Black, I often get the "That's just because you're such a die hard E/B shipper". UH, NO IT'S NOT.

Bella needs a friend that is a guy... THAT DOESN'T HIT ON HER! Take Mike Newton for example, he never stops! Jacob was that character to begin with, and I think it was important to Bella... but then he had to go and trangsmorph into this kissing fiend who makes her feel so awful about herself.

Goddd, anyway, I'll stop before I begin THE RANT OF 2008.. I'll just say THANK YOU for this! Everytime someone gives me grief over my shipping preference, I'm sending them here ;) *salutes you*

FO SERIOUS! Yes! And it was great when he was that in New Moon, but then it was so ruined for me with Eclipse. The triangle, as much as I hated it, was probably unavoidable after NM, but I hated so much about how it played out.

Thank YOU for reading!
