One of the things I did over break was reread the Twilight series. It may have only been five months since the last time I read them, but I appreciate Edward Cullen a little more with every overly-cheesy and somewhat poorly written word. I was also reminded of my irrational hatred for Jacob Black ( Read more... )

Wow. I haven't read those books, but maybe I'll look them up, since I can always use something good to read.

Yes, please, write more VM fic. I memoried the one you did write, as it was so awesomely good.

And I love it when someone on my flist is a feminist. I don't feel so alone anymore. :D But I don't seem to have my feminist icons uploaded...so, Daria it is. :p

Oh no, no, no. Let me emphasize this: These books are awful and you'd be better off staying away! Stick with the classics!

I don't think you can get a better feminist icon (or icon in general) than Daria!

God, you wouldn't believe how many compliments I get on my Daria T-Shirts. I wear them whenever I want random strangers to tell me how awesome me and my clothes are. :D

For those books being awful, you sure did write a really long LJ post about them. :p I can always use something...gripping?...to read? Besides, I've read some classics, and while I hope this doesn't get me killed, Dickens is shit.

Oh, that's cause I'm totally neurotic. These books are like crack. Just be warned.

Where did you get your Daria shirts?? I have a bunch of movie related t-shirts (like Donnie Darko, Dawn of the Dead (the original) and Pulp Fiction) and I always get comments on them. Fun t-shirts and hoodies are a few of my favorite things.

OMG I love you. Your brain is my brain. I really have nothing to say because you've basically covered every reason why I hate Jacob (esp. the pro-Jacob excuses arguments) and why I love Edward, and you've also said everything I've ever wanted to say but am too lazy to ever do so.

Basically, this is the essay. You know, the one we're going to point all the asshats to. And major props that you didn't veil your words behind some giant literary reference that makes no sense.

but dammit if Jacob's sans shirt doesn't remind me of Matthew McConaughey and his chemically induced spiritual connections with nature.

NOOOOOOO!!! I used to be so in love with Matt when I was younger. No matter what Matthew is still > Jacob. Though I can totally picture Jacob with his chemically induced whatever.

I wouldn't even know what literary reference would be appropriate for these books. Horton Hears a Who? Something from the Berenstain Bears library? I'm addicted to the books, too, but this isn't classic literature here.

Matthew McConaughey seems more than a little dumb to me, and I'm betting that he smells weird, but he does seem sweet and he's totally >>> Jacob. ;)

Yay! about writing more VM fic.

About Edward/Bella/Jacob triangle. Fourteen is also a barely discernible speck in my rear view mirror. Edward is old-fashioned because that's how he grew up in a different time. I like old-fashioned. I also hate Jacob. Mainly because he thinks the Emily situation is romantic and something Bella should aspire to. Jacob is really selfish. I don't like selfish. The first book was way better written than the ones that followed. That's probably why Jacob isn't as sympathetic.

I like old-fashioned, too. If only because it's a little different right now.

Do I love Edward Cullen because I hate my vagina?

As soon as I got to the above line, I knew this would be the greatest thing I have ever read on the Internet. DEFINITELY TOP TEN ANYWAY. Please link this all over the place, as often as possible.

also, plz to be writing more vm fic. I am tired of reading old Roswell fanfiction lately and I can't read 99% of the new vm stuff because season 3 Veronica makes me suicidal AS YOU KNOW.

Woot, TOP TEN YAY!

I'm tired of reading old fandom fanfic, too. I just can't decide which kind of fic I want to do next. I AM NARROWING IT DOWN THOUGH!

I agree so much. I'll admit, I find many things about the books, including Bella's fixation on Edward, creepy and off-putting (as I've always thought they were written to be), but the whole Jacob thing is just much worse for me. He's at the very least equally as controlling as Edward, and on top of that he's also an unfunny douchebag and has zero respect for Bella's boundries. Not to mention the fact that he shows pretty much no remorse for or discomfort about manipulating her to his own purposes.

Bella's fixation on Edward is pretty creepy and off-putting, but I just blame the poor writing. I think SM thinks that if she just goes on writing about how much Bella loves Edward, she doesn't actually have to show it. And ITA about Jacob.

You going to write anymore fic?? HINT HINT??? I was just re-reading A Fine and Endless Cycle. <3

I wish there was a new challenge community or people came back to vm_library. That would help me out.

I wish there was a new challenge community or people came back to vm_library. That would help me out. I totally know what you mean. It can get so hard to finish stuff if you don't have that extrinsic motivation.

And I'm not sure about writing VM again; I have part of what was going to be a big post- season 3 story that I haven't touched since May. It was just too depressing; I think the finale killed my spirit, at least for now.
