    I want fireworks.
    Seems to be a pretty simple statement, right? We're very near that holiday where making such a statement would usually necessitate someone replying, "So go see fireworks." And, regardless of how I thought things would turn out, I do have the 4th off work.

    I have to wonder about the people who live here. The ones that drive the fancy cars, and eat at the expensive restaurants, and live in gated communities that are watched by a guard.     It's easy to start pretending this is a permanent situation, so when Steve called to confirm my Sunday work schedule it put me in an understandably stormier mood. I've never not wanted to leave a place this much. The only way this could be more perfect is if I could have my kitty and bunnies here with me.

    Day 1: Up at 6:45 am. Drive 12-13 hours. Behind Mrs. Swiffer who hovers under the speed limit and breaks going down hills.  'Nuff said there.
                Arrive in Ocean Isle Beach. It's gorgeous. Unpack, order out for dinner. Sit on the front deck and talk 'til bedtime.

    I thought it was over. I really did.  What is wrong with me? Shouldn't I know better?
