I really tried
I've been trying to read Kate Elliott's Cold Magic, which I saw recc'd somewhere, but I'm going to have to give up.
Maybe it's my psyche or maybe I'm just not in the right headspace, but this is unreadable.

I don't know. Having plenty of paying work to do, naturally I got all distracted yesterday by trying to figure out the whole AO3 posting thing. I may and/or may not have done it correctly. It looks okay, but that's in preview, so who knows?

I almost forgot! I have opinions!
I've been watching Man From Uncle again, for the first time since it was new and shiny. I'm still in love with David McCallum's Ilya. :) He was, maybe, my first fannish love, all those years ago.
The show is--well, I'll talk about that later. For now, I just wanted to say. Ilya! So pretty!

So, I finally got an invite to the AO3 in-crowd and I went over and activated my membership and it all seems to be good. The monster story continues to annoy me. (It's called, for anyone interested, The Secret Pie Machine and Exploration Expedition and I wish the story were half as cracky as the title.)
I did a fair amount of editing before I sat down to sulk and wait for the story to fix itself. Yanking 15,000 words out of the version my beta first read helped a ( Read more... ) -

Stuart was funny and fun and warm and giving and generous and incredibly snarky. I loved all of those things about him.

Huh.
I thought I was going to be alone in--let's say, not loving the last episode of SGA. Turns out, a lot of folks are rolling their eyes and mumbling.
I wonder why it is that TPTB look at the ending of a series and decide that what the fans of the series want is a last episode completely unlike the seriesSheesh ( Read more... )
