Absolutely wonderful! Perfect. Cassie's observations about Vala are, of course, spot-on, and things she would definitely pick up on.

And, then, of course, there's this line:

“You know,” she says, popping a green chocolate in her mouth, “I read something very interesting about this specific color of candy.”

Bwa ha ha! I love you.

I love your Cassie so, so much. Her relationship with Jack is absolutely awesome, and her plans are so perfect. I love the ending, too. Yay!

Vala is just so much fun to write, as you well know. :) As for Cassie, Jack needs someone in his life who can drive him as insane as he drives everyone else. Snerk. Karma, Jack!

Thank you!

Yeah, Cassie is an interesting character. We were given so little, really, that there are many, many directions her character can be taken. I suppose I have a bit of a thing for her. I wrote another fic from her POV which was focused on her relationship with Jack. And if you are into Cassie fic, have you read Nanda's 'Tether'? One of the most fantastic Cassie fics ever, in this fangirl's opinion.

I'm sure it's a little sad that I know this, but Jack does call her 'Cass' during In the Line of Duty in season 2. :D

Thank you!

ha! the sad part is that even though my SG1 knowlege has gotten toward scarce.. I was *sure* he'd called her that!! :D thank you, that will go in my fic :)

and I will check out tether.. sounds almost familiar though..

and yes, I read the one where sam died.. oops.. did I not comment? umm bad me. I did like it, as dark and heartbreaking as it was. esp. the jacob/jack interaction.. so sad

Oh, this is lovely! And while it's Cassie's story through and through, I adore the picture you paint of Vala, who will let Cassie make her own decisions and mistakes, who gets what it is to have a really strange lot of life and try to figure out what to do with it. Really good stuff!

I love, love, love tight point of view pieces between two characters who don't really know each other. It's a fun way to explore the characters, not only through observation, but also their reactions. I think we learn a lot about Cassie in the way she reacts to Vala. Very telling. At least, that's what I was trying to achieve. Lol. :)

Thank you so much!

Jack is so the puppet master. Lol. :)

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Just fantastic!

Love Cassie's view on the team, on expectations, on choosing what's right. And argh, why couldn't the Vala on the show be even remotely as good as the one that you write here?!

(yes, we've talked about that before, heh)

It seems silly, but one of my favorite aspects is that Cassie doesn't know what she shouldn't. "Adria" means nothing to her. That is so right.

This goes on my list of really good grown-up Cassie fics... Hm, that puts the number up to three. :)

Haha. Yes, we have agreed to disagree about Vala. :D I figured you might forgive me Vala, as this is actually a gen piece! (zomg!)

Yes! Thank you. That is something that has occasionally caught me off guard when it comes to Cassie in fic (you know, like the four that exist, lol). Sure, she knows about the Goa'uld, because they keep trying to kill her and all, but they wouldn't keep her in the loop on newer things. Not only has she been a kid, but she's also not a member of the SGC. I can't imagine SG-1 burdening her with the knowledge of how many times it's been so close.

Thank you!!
