1. Darling Daughter did not wake up yesterday until almost 5 p.m.. She slept for something like 16 hours between about midnight Fri/Sat and yesterday afternoon. I tried to wake her several times but she couldn't stay awake for more than a minute or two each time. AOnce she was awake she stayed up until about 12:30 am, and she also had an appetite ( Read more... )

Really? I didn't know there were meds for mono.

You would not believe how QUIET my house has been. It's creepy.

Mr. Annearchy had the flu last week. We thought DD was getting it too. But Mr. A never slept 16 hours a day when he was sick. He had mono years ago, when he was 18, and he said his symptoms were similar to DD's. But he was lucky (sort of); he had it in the summer, so he didn't miss any school.

Meanwhile I should probably stay away from both of them so I don't get sick before my sister's wedding (which I'm flying to on Friday!)

Poor DD.Definitely call your doc---unfortunately this is where the squeaky wheel analogy does work. Mono is viral so antivirals may help. Mono seems to be going around these days. Hope DD gets better soon and you don't catch what she's got.

I had no idea there were meds. I'll definitely call first thing tomorrow a.m. She's still asleep. She's been awake maybe 2 minutes since I got home, 3 hours ago.

I had mono in 8th or 9th grade. I took a long time to recover from it. Here's hoping she gets better soon! My kid is sick but with severe allergies. I guess it's that time of year.

I managed to miss mono and I don't recall any of my sisters having it, at least not while I lived with the rents. Mr. A says he lost 25 lb. when he had it after high school. So maybe there will be a minor good outcome of DD losing some weight? Lousy way to have to do it though.

Oh geez...mono is definitely NOT fun. I hope Maya feels better regardless of what she has, but I definitely think getting her blood-work done is a good idea. Some of my college friends have had mono for almost a year now because they relapse every few months because the college lifestyle is apparently not really conducive to letting the body heal from the virus--so make sure Maya takes it easy!

*hugs*

She was keeping horrible hours during spring break (which ended last Monday). So she may have already been exposed, and then she was run down too. Bah.

Thanks. *clings*

Bummer. DD is totally not getting better AND your front license plate got stolen.

JEEZ PEOPLE, pick on someone else!

*pets* *sends good vibes your way*

And the thought on doctors? My family has usually *always* had problems finding an acceptable doctor, but for 3 years now we've been going to this family doctor who is absolutely brilliant. She's great, and I am so grateful to have her. (She's seriously genius when it comes to diagnosing things) but I totally understand the negative connotations that can be associated with doctors. *unwilling to admit errors, *cocky, *ill-advised, etc.

Anyway, I hope your week improves from last.
