1. Last night was darling daughter's soccer team's first game of the season. She's playing in a recreational league called the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), where every kid plays at least a few minutes in every game and the season is less than 8 weeks long - the last game is August 6th. Heh...the soccer game sounds like Little Bead's tee ball team, where EVERYONE goes after the ball no matter which direction it's hit for the first few games.

I agree that you describe #2 as an annoyance...not quite worthy of a tirade. :P

Alas, I've seen many a soccer game as you described. My sister calls it "bunchball". :) It's so amazing how the level of their play picks up once they figure out the whole "play your position" thing. It'll get better... or not. As we say (regularly) at my house, "If you had fun, you won!"

I pick her up at noon Friday and she leaves again Sunday a.m. for Girl Scout camp.

Oy! Lissa's in U12 and they're just getting the hang of keeping their formation/postions. My fav thing to watch is the three year old girls play. It looks like a cloud of hair bows and pigtails hovering over the ball as they float around the field.
