Their heads are bloodied but unbowed

1. Last night was darling daughter's soccer team's first game of the season. She's playing in a recreational league called the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), where every kid plays at least a few minutes in every game and the season is less than 8 weeks long - the last game is August 6th. Anyway after having basically no rain for more than a week, we got a lot of rain right before the game, which took place at a park next to the second biggest of the four lakes here. The weather continued to be damp, drizzly and threatening through the whole game, which started at 7:15. Darling daughter's team had only 7 girls, as DD and her friend GP are both out of town, and they're in U10 now which means they play 5 fielders and 1 girl in goal. Her team had never played an actual game together before, and it really showed compared to the other team, who have played together for at least one year. The Burgundy Jedis (DD's team) lost by something like 8-1 (nobody was keeping actual score, but at least they didn't get shut out). They played hard but they were very much outplayed and they need to learn things like not bunching together around the ball ("Spread out!") and not trying to kick the ball downfield all by themselves ("Pass! Pass!") *sigh* There's another game Thursday night. I hope the weather is a lot better then.

2. Work, of course, was insane yesterday. I went in half an hour earlier than usual (because of not having to wake up my wonderful child, who normally doesn't get up for school until almost 8). Naturally this meant that all hell would break loose during the day and instead of leaving at 4:45, I didn't leave until 5:30 *headdesk* I feel like I should pray to St. Jude for a normal, non-crazy day today.

3. Does #2 count as my Tuesday tirade? Probably not tiradey enough :P

soccer, darling daughter, work
