1. I could attempt to recap the past two days *snore* but I'm more interested in your opinions about... CHEESE RECIPES!! Maya is a cheese maniac, and Mr. Annearchy found and gave her a book called The Cheese Cookbook, by Robert Ackart. Thumbing through it, we found a bunch of recipes with titles that kind of made us gag (or else burst into ( Read more... )

Mmm...Shiner--a beer that's actually from Texas. And damn good, too. It's fairly cheap around here: you'd pay half or that $3.75 for a bottle in Houston. But then, Shiner isn't that far from here, either.

I voted for the clam mousse because I like organ meats and, having had cooked brains and tongue, would not in the least object to having them again. Especially if cooked properly. On the other hand, I really don't like shellfish.

You can keep the organ meats. I can tolerate liver sometimes but I'll skip the brains. Actually I'm not sure anyone is even allowed to sell cow brains in the States anymore, with all the worry about Mad Cow Disease.

I don't like shellfish either.

You can't get Shiner up here and I was so jealous that you can get it over there. It's good beer. :) Though, that's an insane price for it.

Eww... with the recipe.

OOH! I keep forgetting you're sort of a semi-Texan yourself. I'd had Shiner only once before, in San Antonio. Good stuff.

That book sounds "not quite right" (see icon).

And what's with everybody eating Mex/Tex lately? zorb was just talking about empinada's. We're even considering going to "On the Border" for Mom's day.

Tex-Mex food is very very good :D

Good luck finding a table. Mother's Day is the biggest day of the year in the restaurant business.

As long as none of these recipes involves rolling up bananas in ham slices, or ham and eggplant in a custard made from ice cream, we might actually like it ;)
