Title: The Meeting
Rating/Warnings: This is very tame, just a little bit of the angst, of course.
Beta: loracj2 Who took time away from her own writing to help me. Her challenge was due today as well. *waves*
Disclaimers: I own nothing in relation to the O.C. Also, I know nothing about how the social service system works. I made everything up so that it ( Read more... )

Since I'm a complete sucker for what I term "missing link" fics- stories that focus on content I deem essential, yet glaringly absent in canon, stories about Ryan's past and bonding stories (no, NOT bondage), you got me hook, line and sinker with your description ( ... )

Oops- forgot to mention that the floor/book comment was inspired. I've heard of people reading palms, coffee grounds, etc., but Ryan would have the market cornered on floors. Who would need ink blot tests with all the intricate tile and carpet options available?

Thank you so much for the in-depth review. Obviously, I'm like you and have a weakness for the prospect of Social Services in Ryan's life. Like you mentioned canon was so good at teasing us with the threat of them but never delivering. In the Heights they were supposed to be "one step away from someone taking you from us" well that step must have been a doozy considering all the things that happened and we never even got so much as a phone call. I always thought if we had to put up with the Oliver story line a much better follow up story would have been social services visiting and the Season One ending being Ryan being removed from the home. I never liked Theresa or the baby storyline. I know there has been discussion on the story not being handled well in S3, but I'm just glad it's over and hope they never bring it up again. Back to the point. I just think we, the viewers, got robbed of some really good stories by leaving out Social Services ( ... )

I can not tell you how happy I am to have found someone who shares my view of Theresa. Although I am not a Ryrissa shipper I honestly prefer M to her. Her very introduction in "The Homecoming" I thought was ridiculous. Ryan had already mentioned he had never had a girlfriend and there she was all bitchy and possessive of him. If she meant so much why was there no mention of trying to stay at her place that fateful first weekend? Why in four months did he not once pick up the phone and tell here he was still alive? Plus, I never liked the Snoopy story. Yes, it's cute and all that. But come on! There was no dancing & singing in Ryan's Chino life. We all know that ( ... )

I love early Cohens+1 stories! Ryan's so unsure and Sandy and Kirsten are so protective. Good job!
