they say it's the same snowstorm we're getting that caused a plane to slip off the runway at midway airport, in chicago. hoo boy. and i'm meeting the electrician at the store at 7 am

I always loved John Lennon. I wish he had lived long enough to still be alive when I was born.

I was in a bar with my best friend in graduate school, and we were annoying the bartender by stealing straws and putting them in our hair when someone ran in the door, covered in snow, and shouted that Lennon had been killed. We weren't very connected (or were very disconnected) from popular culture, and we'd been numbed (I notice this in myself, noticed it when Oklahoma City got hit, but not on 9/11, I have theories about why), so we didn't really understand why the guy was so upset. It felt like just more crap.

But he wrote great songs that resonate, unforgettable. Whaddaguy.
