Alrighty, my costuming friends. When I am not broken any more I'm going to start swing dancing with a buddy of mine. As a fan of swing music, I want a swing outfit to wear. So, any reccomendations of some '30s and'40s patterns, dresses, skirts, pants, whatever. I'm pretty excited about it.

I've got a Ton of vintage patterns I downloaded during that free week from that place that I can't rightly remember right now. I'm giving Jaelie a copy of the patterns the next time I see her, which could possibly be next Saturday. You should poke through those patterns to see if anything fits your fancy!

There are of course the vintage/retro patterns from Vogue, Butterick or Simplicity. These patterns you can get for cheap if you wait for a sale. One non-commercial pattern maker that I know of one "Swing" era pattern: Sensibility.com.

I have the CD for you from Maggie with the patterns. And I just got an email from someone who does vintage patterns who totally slipped my mind: http://www.evadress.com/ I have a few of hers (like two), but haven't tried them out yet.

By the way, I think it's *awesome* you're going to start swing dancing. Where are yall planning on going to do this? Who is teaching you? Your buddy?

I've got a swingy pattern from my mom's collection. I don't know when it was printed, but the price on it says 15 cents. The only problem is it's a girls pattern, but I thing we could grade it up to a larger size it you liked it.

Also I have a vintage dress that belonged to my grandmother that might fit you. It may not have a wide enough skirt for swinging, though.
