Y'know what social media in general needs? LJ included? An 'I have read this' button. For stuff you don't necessarily have anything to add to or need to comment on, but just so a) the people who post it don't feel like they're shouting into a void and can also know they can launch right into discussion with the person who's read it rather than ( Read more... )

I dunno if media needs that, because if someone important to me shouts into the void or whatever, even if I don't comment there and then, I will generally be like "Are you okay, you were down/happy/whatever" the other day when I do talk to them, or I'll be like "No commenting but dufbgdubgdfubg" in IM. But that's me personally.

What I hate though is if I do something for someone as a birthday gift*, or a secret santa*, and they never ever acknowledge it. Not a comment, not a passing mention, nothing. That ticks me off and a "I've seen this" might not even cover it :/ But it probably would be better.

* Happened, still bitter and ragey inside.

That's just frigging rude =| I struggle to stay coherent in my spazzing when gift art happens XD

But like, decent people would still comment when commenting is required. The people who would just click the button and not comment probably would never have commented to start with anyway.

Yeah, true.

I think things like Instagram its like easy to click the ♥ button is nice but I sometimes wonder while I'm doing it if its taken the meaning away doing it so easily.

There needs to be a difference between "I've seen it" and "I like it". Like on tumblr you'll 'like' a sad post to show you've seen it, but that seems... weird.
