And now I'm stuck at Sunnydale High. Mortal. Child. And I'm flunking math.

Okay, I'm going to try to get back in the swing of at least OCCASIONALLY posting to LJ, good lord. H-how are you guys?

First of all, a question: the other day moireach told me that I should revive nothing_hip this summer, after having let it lie fallow in 2009. It's a fic challenge community I used to run, where every week guilty pleasure songs are prompts for you ( Read more... )

damian lewis, jonas brothers, selena gomez, true blood, mindy kaling, mansions, jb_bigbang, nothing hip

HI KOVSKY HIIIIIIIIIIII! I, uhm, would kind of LOVE and KILL for a cheesy music fic comm. LIKE, A LOT. I would try my best to write dirty inappropriate things about boys and their brothers and girls and their stepdads and maaaaaaaaybe even tv wizards and their sisters too. OR SOMETHING. I AM JUST SAYING.

Oooh, YAY!!!! This is VERY MOTIVATIONAL for me to want to do it. I like all those things!! Man, I really need to write some tv wizards and their sisters, there is just not enough of that in the world and it's so canonical.

KOVSKY HI HI HI.

I mean, it's a very silly show, but I really like how it's not about high schoolers (seriously, WHY do vampires keep enrolling in high schools? Really, you're immortal and you drink blood and you're a hundred years old and you've decided precal is the best use of your time???), and that the vampires are dangerous, and that vampires have gone public, and I am weirdly really enjoying how it's set in the South.

Seconding pretty much all of this. Token and I rolled through the first two seasons and the Oh So Southern stuff made me so pleased, just constantly, and the furthest south I've ever lived is, like, Kansas. (There is never, ever, ever going to be anything funnier than Bill politely offering the visiting officers a Fresca*. I need an icon of this.) And the fact that the vampires are public, but far from harmless, pleases me no end, because it makes things so crazy complicated ( ... )

HELLOO!

Oh my God, the Fresca offer! That was like, literally my favorite part so far. I thought the Southern stuff might end up being more annoying than anything, but I just REALLY like it, it keeps surprising me. And seriously, the complexity of the situation is really enjoyable and I like SF AUs SO MUCH. A world where vampires go public! Good times!

Hee, it really is doofy, though, and Sookie isn't quite working my last nerve yet, but she's definitely not that interesting. But Tara! She is so excellent! She's totally my favorite out of everyone.

Seconding the thing where TVD does, in fact, get much better (although it does develop a couple persistent flaws completely unrelated to the high school drama setting -- for much of the season it was my favorite thing on TV this year and I still really enjoy it. I'm sure my vague dissatisfaction is very enticing!). Personally I advocate kind of sitting through the first few episodes even if you're also doing something else, because there's important info happening and you get the first few hits of shock! plot!!1, and then by 4 it's all-out, but the build is helpful to understand.

Also, BJ and Mindy 4eva, flail keysmash etc.

Heeeee, vague dissatisfaction. That's good to know on the watching while doing something else and letting it get better thing, I think that'll be my plan. I've been knitting a lot so that always makes me feel less like I'm wasting my time with the TV on.

I can't believe how much I still ship BJ and Mindy after all this time. Just, PLEASE GET MARRIED AND HAVE BABIES YOU GUYS.

oh my god, Ryan/Simon. They are possibly the only proper OTP I've ever had. Live RPF fandoms are the best.

I can really see how they could qualify to be one's only OTP, they are really something else together. I can't even believe some of the stuff up there in comments!

Yeah, that's nothing. :)

There's an epic collection of quotes and things here--I think you have to join the comm, but it's totally worth it.

Also I have a pretty comprehensive set of bookmarks here from when Simon got engaged and Ryan was running around telling people that he didn't believe that they were really going to get married, and that Mezhgan shouldn't have too many mirrors around or Simon would get distracted looking at himself.
