ELECTION DAY IT'S ELECTION DAY YOU GUYS

Nov 04, 2008 12:54

I'd remind you Americans to go vote, but like any of you could forget. I was literally woken up TWICE this morning by different people texting me to remember to vote, which made me furious. Uh, I AM NOT GOING TO FORGET, first of all, I go to fivethirtyeight.com like ten times a day lately (it's like science! joyful science!), and second of all, I ( Read more... )

1) I was saying to the bf this morning as we shuffled off toward the voting line that was THREE CITY BLOCKS LONG, that it's like reverse Christmas, with all this anticipation for the end of the day, when hopefully an old white guy won't show up.

2) My mom's office is on the parade route for inauguration funtimes, fyi, if you would like to join me, El, possibly Leyna and/or Katie, idk whatever some people. YAY PARADE.

3) I would be going to election party/ies, except that I will be weeping and drunk kind of no matter what, and the public doesn't need to see that.

HEEEEEEE. God, it totally IS like reverse Christmas. AHH I AM SO STRESSED.

Oh my god, are you serious? That could be super cool for the inauguration! I'll have to check with the people I'm going with and get back to you on that, but that is EXCITING.

Hahahaha, weeping, drinking, check check. GLAD I CHOSE TO MAKE IT PUBLIC. haha, I'm going to chew my nails right off.

and also buying tickets to visit friends in DC and stay for the inauguration, so.

HELL YES YOU WERE! Heeee, I'm so excited you guys decided to get tickets, YOU HAVE NO IDEA! And what a perfect time to be in DC (uh, minus the gross January-ness that will accompany).

God, that Jo!Bro fic was so good, I'm still thinking about it. It makes me proud to be an American that I can read and enjoy incest fic of young pop stars on the internets... or something. IDEK, IT'S ELECTION DAY, OKAY?

Like that 5 Friends video where Harrison is all "NO, I CAN'T SAY THAT. I DON'T BELIEVE IT."

Heeee, Harrison just wants you to know that ONE VOTE COUNTS, GUYS.

I am seriously so so so so psyched for this trip, you have no idea. IT WILL BE AN AMAZING TIME.

HEEEE. That's true, nothing makes me as patriotic as reading incest fic about Disney stars. AWESOME.

Hahaha, I cannot settle today, it's really out of control.

~Canadian checking in here to wish you all happy (election) returns~
my American partner says his friends are turning out early and waiting for hours too. He still votes in the U.S. and sent in an early ballot - he votes in Ohio so it's important there. I've *never* been part of a Canadian election where people waited around for hours. My voting has always taken 15 mins. max. Partner said there might be very high voter turn-out, but is waiting for a long time typical voting protocol?

This year, it sounds like people are waiting WAY WAY longer than usual -- I mean, I guess it always depends on where you live and what time you go, though. (Like, I didn't have to wait at all today, because I went in the middle of the day, but my roommate went before work and had to wait an hour.) But generally, I'd say waiting a long time is SUPER unusual in the States. It's exciting this is happening this year!

Most people aren't going to give up if they have to wait, are they? I'd like to think many voters know it's too important this year.

I'm beginning to be gravely concerned about my ability to act normal in front of other people at this election party.

Hahaha, ME TOO, I CANNOT CALM DOWN. Uh, if we have to go home and weep and jump up and down like crazy people, that's always an option?
