Things that prevent cancer=good.

How I'm going to manage to get it pre-peace corps? Unclear.

Well, the more complicated point on it is that it should prevent infection from some of the variants of HPV that are most commonly implicated in cervical cancer and genital warts. However, it has not been tested for usefulness/efficacy in older female populations (and by older, I think the cut-off for current official recommendations and protocols is 18 or so). However, all that said, if I was a woman at my current age (mid 20's), I would still be inclined to get it as long as it didn't break my budget. There's really no reasonable way it could hurt, apart from the pocketbook, and a very real potential it could help.

Well, the literature that UMass Health Services hands out recommends a catch-up vaccine for women 13-26 who didn't get it earlier, and I talked to the health insurance people, who say that as long as I get all three shots before my 27th birthday, they'll cover it. So no bank-breaking, but I have to start... well, now.
