I was finally, finally getting somewhere with that part of my dissertation which has been giving me headaches for weeks, resulting in much procrastination and not much working. Oh, that's so annoying! I've had that happen to me before... don't worry, you'll still remember what you did after you've got over the frustration.

Yeah, once I got over myself and the EPIC CAPSLOCK OF RAGE, it wasn't too bad. I think it only took me about an hour to rewrite that part (though it did take me three the first time around) and I believe I haven't forgotten anything. Oh well.

Oh that is horrible horrible horrible...it's happened to everyone at some point but that doesn't make it any less infuriating, especially when you feel like you're FINALLY getting somewhere...

I guess it had to happen to me at some point, because with an epic project like that, it is probably supposed to happen. I'm glad I've been so anal about backups, though. This way, I can only ever lose a day's work. I'm in a state of zen now. ;-)

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one, then! The thing is, I was so sure that with all the backup copies and autosaving I could not loose more than a sentence or two. But somehow, key combination of doom!
