Word. And you'd think I'd be smart enough to know, right? I mean, it isn't rocket science. Just thinking back to it makes me wanna puke. Did I make it sufficiently clear that I actually managed to drink both literally at the same time?! ::headdesks::

Actually, in Greece we do have a Saint Nikolaus but he was not the one bearing gifts. We have a Saint Vassilis (Bill) who gives us the gifts on January 1st, thus why New Year's Day used to be and still is I guess more popular than Christmas. We are now of course all corrupted by the images of red dressed Santa who was a Coca Cola creation.

I still love the gifts though!

Who doesn't love the gifts! And I think you told me about Saint Vassilis once, because I seemed to remember something like that when I wrote it but I wasn't sure.

The Italians have a witch (strega) come on January, 6th (I think?) who brings the gifts. Unfortunately I have no idea where that tradition comes from.
