Farewell EUREKA

Aug 09, 2011 12:32

So my perfect Monday evening of hunker-down tv was marred last night when word came through on twitter shortly after Eureka aired that despite earlier reports of a six-episode wrap-up sixth season, SyFy took it back and canceled the show right then and there. If I read the EW report right, sounds like contract negotiations broke down, and that was ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear you show got cancelled. Hate when they do that without time to tie up the loose ends. That's what happens so often. The times I have seen Warehouse 13 this season, I have also found it better than the last time I watched. Tried a few episodes of Falling Skies and like you found it slow but also though Wylie was good. Did get bored after a bit and stopped watching. Caught an episode of Rizzoli and Ives the other night. Can't remember excatly when it was on but wouldn't mind seeing it again. Read a book about them and developed an interest. So maybe can find it again and record it if I am away. Am looking forward to some fall shows coming back, especially Fringe. Tell TSU ate some of the coconut cream pie, but like him was just too sweet. Have that problem with a lot of things. The last ice cream I bought, after a couple of scoops, gave to whole rest of the gallon to my friends and their 12 year old who eats everything in sight. Next time I call I will try your land line at first to test, then the cell if ( ... )

WH13 has improved with age - started out cute if a little weak, and now is really charming and fun with great characters and interesting stories.

But, yeah, it's not so much that I'm bummed about the cancellation, because we still have plenty of episodes to finish airing (a few this year, then the Xmas ep, then all of the last season next year). So it's not like it's ending tomorrow. And five years is a good run - but it's not good when the network doesn't let the showrunners know going in that they are likely working on a final season, and to write accordingly. Fans don't scream as much or as loudly if they have closure, and know that the closure is coming at a certain end-date.

I'm really looking forward to Fringe coming back - I think it might be the one series I'm looking forward to most right now. Funny considering I didn't even ( ... )

Yeah, I read it on zap2it today and was bummed. I'm having to wait for syfy to put them online, so I've only seen the 1st and 2nd episodes of Eureka this year. Apparently it's cancellation can be blamed on me. I started really liking it over the past two months, and you know I used to have a death-knell for TV shows. If I liked 'em, they got canceled. *sigh*

At least WH13 is awesomeness. I STILL want an icon of Pete with the text "OMG what's the BFD?"

Yep, I'm thinking this is all your fault. ;) Seriously, though, there's a pattern here, and it seems to me any successful scripted series on Syfy is very likely to be canceled if they get to the five-year mark because to go beyond that requires contract renegotiations, and the shows get more expensive. So Syfy nips it in the bud with cancellation.

News came down today that Syfy is giving the showrunners one additional episode to write a finale. Not much, but more than they had yesterday. :(

I've got to make some new WH13 icons - it's super awesome this season! Of course, now I have to prepare myself for this one going bye-bye if they get to five years. This is year three. *nervous*
