My god, is it really August already? And did I really only post four times last month? Oy, I guess I should be happy I could post that much. No light at the end of this crap tunnel I'm in the middle of yet - but maybe things will begin to lighten up just a little somewhere 'round fall'ish? Maybe. Hope springs eternal

The buzz word for us in terms of summer tv-viewing is fun and nothing I have to think too hard about. I just don't have the energy right now. I need "take me away, Calgon!" type of escapism. ;)

It's not laugh-out-loud kind of funny - the only thing I watch that qualifies for that would be The Big Bang Theory, which is a sitcom so at best it should give the audience some actual yucks.
But I never really got anything other than a light-hearted feel from this one either. I'd qualify it like I would Eureka - a light fantasy dramedy. Gotta admit, that's all I ever expected from it too. Torchwood was about all the heavy I could take this summer.

I have to admit, I'm a lousy TV viewer these days. I barely got through the first hour of the Warehouse 13 pilot and bailed out due to extreme boredom, and it's never occurred to me to go back for another look. The similarity in tone to Eureka didn't escape me, and so I never tuned in to that show's return, feeling like I was completely disinterested.
I've got nothing against Eureka - I found everyone likable and the plots at least entertaining. It's just that I found myself not caring about whether it was back or not.

Like I was telling jenwrites above, I had no high expectations for W-13 outside of light fantasy dramedy in the vein of Eureka, and I think the way things are going this summer, this is really the only kind of tv-viewing I can deal with on a weekly or nightly basis. Torchwood: COE expended my heavy angst quota for the entire season (though it helped that I wasn't as completely invested in most of the characters and relationships like many fans were). Might be why I'm enjoying Burn Notice more this year when I'd lost interest in it last year.
On the flip side, I've been reading more classic weightier material than I have in years, and that may also account for needing more escapism at night when I'm vegging in front of the tube. I admit it probably isn't a good idea to be reading The Bell Jar right now. Then again, maybe I'm looking for internal insight. ;)

Will be watching Leverage again tonight. Glad I found that show. Saw Burn Notice for the first time and Royal Pains as well. Both were pretty good.
Be talking with you later. Ease up when you can.

That is too bad. I'd check the SyFy website - I'm pretty sure they stream their episodes. It's no high-brow entertainment, don't get me wrong - but I think it's cute, and it makes me smile right now which is essential. ;)
I am so hoping nobody pulls out at the last minute.
Knock on wood - don't jinx it!

Lots of good, easy-breezy summer-time viewing fare right there. :)
Can't wait to see copies of your pictures!
