But there was also something kind of thin about the dialogue and the story. I thought maybe the show was an acquired taste, but I didn't make it through the ep to find out. ITA about Anwar - she's pretty enough that she shouldn't have to go botox'ing her face, or whatever. It's a shame how all those actresses feel they have to practically mutilate themselves to keep working

It's funny, but as I was watching SPN I found myself thinking "I'm bored" which, no matter what else can be said about SPN, I have never experienced before. I didn't hate it, and I wasn't terribly hung up over the casting, but I wasn't at all intrigued by the way the premise was handled.

You know, you're right, it wasn't the most engaging episode - and now that I think about it, I was somewhat bored myself. Which, like you, doesn't normally happen with this show. Last time that happened was first season - not the entire first season, but off and on depending on the episode. And this one definitely had that weaker first season episode feel to it.
For something that was supposed to be pretty character-heavy, I really came away wondering what I'd learned about Sam. Certainly nothing I didn't already know in the Pilot, eh?
ANnd, thinking more about it, you're right as well. (*mutual pat-pat* ;)) High school is so freaking fraught, and yet it was hard to believe that this wee Sam was in high school, which watered down the angst I think I was expected to be experiencing on his behalf.
Now, what I'd really like to see is Sam establishing himself in college, on his own and not identifying as a Winchester or a hunter for the first time.

Yeah, that would be a terrific idea because it's the time in Sam's life when he truly breaks away from the pack. Does his own thing contrary to his father's wishes. It would be a lot more interesting to see how Sam changes over those four years, the further away he is from the Winchester lifestyle.
My fav was the substitute gym teacher. And dodgeball! Hee! Maybe the headband was overkill. Nah!
Very sad about Kim. I was wondering if they would have a dedication for him at the end of the episode. I guess there were two others who were in memory. I heard the boys are putting together something for the season 4 dvds.

Yeah, what was with those other names? Boy, they've lost a lot of crew suddenly. It's macabre. I still would expect to see a dedication to Kim at the end of an upcoming episode, even with a special dedication on the dvd set.
