Between McCain's attacks about funding a $3 million scientific project on grizzly bears, and now attacks about funding a $3 million planetarium projector (or, as McCain would say, "overhead projector"), he's coming off as extremely anti-science and research ( Read more... )

One of the first things I found out when i looked up Sarah Palin was that not only did she try to ban books from libraries in Wasilla (operative word being "try"), but she cut funding to libraries and museums both. The thing it makes me wonder is, what is she so afraid people will learn?

That she made rape victims pay for their own rape kits?

That her view of witches doesn't actually exist?

That you should do more for gays than merely "tolerate" them?

Or be best friends with them while trying to deny them basic human rights?

EXACTLY. It's like... If you're their elected official, the least you can do is tolerate them. That is the least you should do as a human being. The absolute least.

No, screw that. The least she should be doing in my mind is give them the same rights and benefits as every other American citizen. That is the least she should do.

I can't believe she said that people would really disagree with her for tolerating homoesexuals and implied that she was taking such a stand in thinking they ought to be tolerated. It's like... "You know that disconnect some people have between their brains and their mouths? Yeah, that's the least of your problems."

And I should clarify that with "That her view of witches doesn't actually exist," doesn't mean that such a view doesn't exist, just that she seems to think of them as devil-whoring wart-ridden green-skinned cackling bitches. And those are the witches that don't exist. As opposed to the Wiccan witches, who are completely different, exist, and are more often than not good people and good citizens of the United States.

This answer is something I commented before on someone elses LJ but still applies: The problem is that there is a current trend toward anti-intellectualism as well as anti-science ( ... )

The Religious Reich fears real science since it discredits the "Holy" word of "God". While there are scientific shows out there that explain how a "miracle" happened like the Red Sea is actually the Reed Sea and how the story of Noah's Ark got blown out of proportion to the great myth it is in the Bible ( ... )
