Photos from Pensacola Train Show

As I posted earlier, I went to a model train show in Pensacola with my Dad on Father's Day. We had fun looking at the layouts and the merchandise. It's all not really his cup of tea anymore. That 'crashed spaceship' is the Spindrift from Land of the Giants! I have an original unopened Aurora kit of it from the '60s that's worth about $250. Like as not the one in the train show was one of the repros done about 5 years ago - almost the same, and only $35 on Ebay or your local hobby store...

I love how the guy that did the packing house put so much detail into the buildings on the backdrop. Oh and on the tracks beside where I work is (sometimes) a full scale engine like the one in the last pic. I was amazed that the manufacturer painted it until I read the small letters below the conductor window: 'leased to NPSF'

I used to watch Land of the Giants as a kid. I didn't recognize the ship (still don't really). The ship was part of a horror/fantasy section of track. It had a burning castle, giant skulls with glowing eyes, explosion sounds, etc. If you look in the pic in the the top left hand corner you will see a second space ship (a saucer) which has an alien in a space suit in a light beam under it. Just shows it takes all kinds.

LOL, and here I thought it was a fan...I seem to remember an episode where they land on a modeler's scale village. I thought maybe that was a reference to that episode...

Yes the are nice. Much cooler than the lame ass showing in Tallahassee. I was really disappointed with the home town performance on this one. Maybe I need to join the club and fire some people up!
